<text>A letter from Karen Ahearn to Elizabeth Whelpley of Penguin to request the use of a David McPhail illustration on a cake for his visit.

Transcription:
October 7, 1991
Dear Elizabeth Whepley,
The children's book illustrator, David McPhail, is visiting the Concord Free Public Library's Children's Room on November 16 to help us celebrate Children's Book Week. Because of the special nature of the program, we are planning to have a cake with several of Mr. McPhail's characters on top. Deborah Ann's, a bakery in Bedford, Massachusetts needs written permission for the one time use of the character Pig Pig taken from the book Pig Pig Gets a Job (Dutton Children's Bks., 1990) by David McPhail. I would appreciate it if you could write a letter of permission and Fax it to the Library's Fax machine (#508-371-6244) or mail it so that I can give the bakery the O.K. along with the design for the cake.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely yours,
Karen Ahearn, Children's Services
Concord Free Public Library
129 Main Street
Concord, Massachusetts 01742
Telephone (508) 371-6258
Fax (508) 371-6244</text>
