Annual report of the Concord Fire Department in the 1862 town report.

Thirteenth Annual Report of the Fire Department.
Herewith is submitted to the town a list of the officers of the Fire Department for the year 1862-3, together with a statement of the condition of the property in their charge. The department has been called out four times, viz :— at E. C. Damon's Factory, which was entirely consumed; at Acton Centre, where were consumed a stable, dry goods store, shoe store, town house, and tavern; at the house of Mrs. Gorman, where the damage was trifling; and at the cottage, formerly owned by S. G. Wheeler, which was damaged slightly.
The officers and members of the Department are as follows:—
Nathan S. Hosmer, Chief Engineer.
Lorenzo Eaton, 1st Assistant Engineer.
N. Henry Warren, 2nd " "
Edward C. Damon, 3d " "
Fountain No. 1.—Seventeen Members
John Garfield, Foreman.
H. J. Walcott, Clerk.
Six members have left for the war.
Factory Boy, No. 2.
Samuel Hoar, Foreman.
Oliver Rice, Assistant Foreman.
William D. Brown, Clerk.
Independence, No. 3.—Twenty-nine members
Jonas Melvin, Foreman.
Thirteen members have left for the war.
Hook and ladder.—Six members
Edward Stowell, Foreman.
Willard Farbar, Clerk.
Four members have left for the war.
Engine No. 1 is in good order; has 300 ft. of leading hose, and 32 ft. of suction hose.
